Jacqueline Jonk-Veerman (Volendam) is a photographer with a passion for
capturing real moments.
When my daughter – the singer of the band Mellvf – asked me to become their photographer, it felt like a logical continuation of my years of hobby. In order to tackle this professionally, I decided to follow the Photography course. I want to tell visual stories – like this series on the wall and in my portfolios.
I want to take you with my photos to the concentration while writing a new song, to the cool light just before the show, to the silence behind the scenes. To the fire on stage, the energy of the band, the look of the singer.
My style is all about authenticity. I prefer to work without flash – precisely to get lost in the moment and remain inconspicuous. Only when there really is no other option – backstage or at weddings – do I use a reportage flash. But during concerts: never. Because then I want to capture the atmosphere as purely as possible.
