A photographer from Volendam with a passion for capturing real moments.
When my daughter – the singer of the band Mell VF – asked me to become their photographer, it felt like a logical continuation of years of photography as a hobby. To take it on professionally, I followed a photography course. I want to tell visual stories, like the series on the wall and in my portfolio.
With my photos I take you to the concentration of writing a new song, the cool light just before the show, the silence behind the scenes. To the fire on stage, the energy of the band, the look of the singer.
My style is all about authenticity. I prefer to work without flash, so I can lose myself in the moment and stay inconspicuous. Only when there is really no other option, backstage or at weddings, do I use a reportage flash. During concerts: never. That is when I want to capture the atmosphere as purely as possible.
