Who we are
This website is run by JJV Photography (Jacqueline Jonk-Veerman), Volendam, the Netherlands. JJV Photography is the controller for the personal data described in this statement. Questions about privacy? Email info [at] jjvphotography [dot] nl.
Which personal data we process, why, and on what legal basis
When you contact us
If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name (optional), email address and your message. We use this only to answer your question or to discuss a photo assignment. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering messages, or taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The form sends your message by email; it is not stored in the website database. We keep correspondence for up to 2 years after our last contact, unless a longer period is required by law (for example 7 years for invoices).
Protecting the website and the contact form
To keep the website secure and the contact form free of spam, technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your visit are processed by our hosting provider in the Netherlands (server logs) and, on the contact page only, by Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile checks in the background whether a visitor is a real person; it does not use advertising cookies. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Server logs are kept for a short period (usually no longer than 30 days). More information: Cloudflare Turnstile privacy addendum.
Website statistics (only with your permission)
If you click Accept in the cookie notice, we use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand how the website is used: for example which pages are visited, how long, from which type of device and from roughly which country or city. Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses. We do not use this data for advertising and we do not share it with Google for other purposes. If you click Decline, or do not make a choice, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time. Google retains the statistics for a maximum of 14 months.
Map on the contact page
The Google Maps map on the contact page is only shown after you accept cookies or click Show Google Maps. Google may then set cookies and receive your IP address. Legal basis: your consent.
Photos of people
I photograph concerts, festivals, theatre and behind-the-scenes moments. Artists and sometimes members of the audience can be recognisable in the photos I publish. I do this to show my work as a photographer and to share the atmosphere of the event (legitimate interest and freedom of artistic expression, Article 6(1)(f) and 85 GDPR). Are you recognisable in a photo and would you like it to be removed? Send an email with a link to the photo to info [at] jjvphotography [dot] nl and I will remove it as soon as possible.
Cookies
We use the following cookies:
- jjv_consent (functional, 3 months): remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies. No consent needed.
- _ga and _ga_<ID> (Google Analytics, up to 2 years): only placed after you click Accept.
- Google Maps cookies: only placed after you choose to show the map.
You can change your cookie settings at any time. If you withdraw your permission, the analytics cookies are removed. You can also delete cookies via your browser settings.
Who receives your data
We never sell your personal data. We only share data with parties that help us run this website:
- our hosting provider in the Netherlands (website and email hosting);
- Google Ireland Ltd. (Google Analytics and Google Maps, only with your permission);
- Cloudflare, Inc. (Turnstile spam protection on the contact form).
Google and Cloudflare may process data in the United States. Both companies are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission considers to offer an adequate level of protection.
The share buttons on album pages are simple links: Facebook or X (Twitter) only receive data if you click one of them. The same applies to the link to our Instagram page.
How long we keep personal data
We keep personal data no longer than necessary for the purposes described above. The retention periods are mentioned per purpose.
How we protect personal data
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access and unwanted disclosure, such as:
- TLS (HTTPS): all data is sent over a secure connection; you can recognise this by the padlock in your browser’s address bar;
- DKIM and SPF for our email, to prevent others from sending emails in our name;
- two-factor authentication and other security measures for the management of the website.
We follow the international security.txt standard for responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities. Instructions for reporting a vulnerability can be found in our security file. If you think your data is not properly protected, please contact us at info [at] jjvphotography [dot] nl.
Children
We do not intend to collect data about website visitors under the age of 16 without permission from their parents or guardian. If you believe we have collected personal information about a minor without this permission, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive your data in a commonly used format (data portability). Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Send your request to info [at] jjvphotography [dot] nl; we will respond within one month. To make sure a request comes from you, we may ask you to confirm your identity.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal data, please let us know first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Copyright of the photos
All photos on this website are made by Jacqueline Jonk-Veerman and are protected by copyright. They may not be copied, downloaded, published or used in any other way without prior written permission. Would you like to use a photo, for example for press, promotion or as an album cover? Please get in touch to discuss a licence.
